II.1.4) Short description of the contract or purchase(s): The objective
of the contract is to work with the lead delivery partner for the roll out
of extended schools, the Training and Development Agency to: a) provide
targeted advice and support to schools at the request of local authorities
on the benefits and practicalities of delivering extended services; b)
provide tailored support to local authorities on developing the extended
schools core offer of services with a particular focus on activities and
study support; c) provide regular briefings and seminars for Local
Authority Extended Schools Remodelling Advisers (ESRAs), school level
managers and extended schools to address contemporary and on-going issues
as agreed with the TDA and DCSF; d) promote learning on the design and
delivery of extended services, and in particular study support, between
different settings by facilitating networking between local authorities
and schools or clusters of schools; e) produce extended school support
materials sharing good practice and disseminating information on the
design and delivery of extended services, including the development of
case studies; f) develop and maintain a website to enable electronic
information sharing on extended services and in particular activities and
study support; g) support the design and delivery of extended services in
and around schools by facilitating partnership building with organisations
delivering services for children and families in the voluntary and
community sector, health and social services; and h) provide professional
development opportunities for headteachers and other school staff, Local
Authority co-ordinators, school level managers and coordinators of
extended services, governors and others.
