AWARD OF CONTRACT

The Government of Burkina Faso (GoBF) has submitted a proposal for consideration for a Compact (Grant) from the Government of the United States of America through the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC), a government corporation. Additionally, the GoBF has been awarded a grant of pre-Compact Grant funds to support the development of the Compact and its implementation, in an amount not to exceed nine million four hundred thirty thousand USD ($9,430,000 USD).

The goal of the Burkina Faso Compact is to reduce poverty through economic growth by (i) fostering improved agricultural and livestock productivity and land use, and (ii) improving access to national and international markets. To accomplish these objectives, the program articulates a three-pronged strategy focused on (a) securing land tenure, (b) developing and managing land for irrigated agriculture, livestock and fisheries production, and (c) enhancing market competitiveness through investments in the road network and market infrastructure.
