DEVELOP THE OF 2 X 60 MW ITEZHI-TEZHI HYDROPOWER STATION.

GENERAL PROCUREMENT NOTICE

ZESCO LIMITED and TATA AFRICA HOLDINGS (SA) (PTY) LIMITED in a Joint Venture called Itezhi-Tezhi Power Corporation intend to develop the 2 x 60 MW Itezhi-Tezhi Hydropower Station. The Joint-Venture partners would each make its required contribution to the financing of the Project. In this regard, ZESCO intends to seek financial assistance also from the World Bank towards its contribution in the financing.

The Itezhi-Tezhi Hydro Power station will be located in Itezhi-Tezhi District at the existing Itezhi-Tezhi dam. The Itezhi-Tezhi (ITT) dam, built as a storage reservoir for the existing Upper Kafue Gorge Hydro (UKGH) Power Station, is located on the Kafue River about 230 km upstream from existing Station. The proposed ITT hydro power project will be located on the downstream side of the dam. The reservoir is currently used for seasonal stream flow regulation to serve the requirements of UKGH Power Station on the downstream. The proposed hydro project will generate power utilising the head available at the dam and flow being released or spilled.

The project will include the following components:
• Design, Supply, Construction, Installations and Commissioning of 2 x 60MW Turbine and Generators
• Design, Supply and Construction of intake structure complete with screens, trash rack, gates, etc
• Design, Supply, and Construction of dedicated penstocks for each unit and respective screens
• Design, and Construction of a surface power house to accommodate 2 generating units, 18kV phase insulated busbars, local control room, relay room, station services, battery room.
• Design and Construction of an outdoor substation and a 330kV/132kv switchyard to accommodate three transformer bays.
• Design, Supply, Construction Installation and commissioning of Auxiliary equipment and Balance of Plant for the hydro power station.
• Design and Construction of associated Civil Works

The above services shall be procured under International Competitive Bidding (ICB) procedures.

Specific procurement notices for contracts to bid under the international competitive bidding (ICB) procedures and for contracts will be announced, as they become available.

Prequalification of suppliers and contractors will be required for the following contracts
1. Contract ITT-HPC001 – Civil Works
2. Contract ITT-HPC002 – Electro-Mechanical Works
3. Contract ITT-HPC003 – Control Systems
