7. Contract description: The contract involves inspecting and overseeing
rehabilitation and improvement works on trunk road No 3, in particular on
the stretch linking the 2 communes of Mirebalais and Hinche. The
invitation to tender will comprise:
— a firm phase from KP 0 to KP 37 (Mirebalais — Thomonde),
— optional phase No 1 from KP 37 to KP 53 (Thomonde — Hinche), depending
on EDF funds available,
— optional phase No 2 from Mirebalais to Terre Rouge, depending on
performance of the ongoing contract between Port-au-Prince and Mirebalais
and the EDF funds available.
This contract comes under a sectoral transport strategy initiated in 2006
by the Ministry of Public Works, Transport and Communications (Ministère
des travaux publics, des transports et des communications). Extensive
financing from the European Union (9th and 10th EDF), the French
Development Agency, the World Bank and the Inter-American Development Bank
is being programmed for the rehabilitation of the primary and secondary
road networks in Haiti and the implementation of a national road
maintenance policy.
8. Maximum budget available: The maximum budget available is EUR 2 500
000, depending on the size of the works contract awarded.
9. Scheduled date for publication of the contract notice: 15.9.2007.
10. Additional information: As the value and scope of the services in
this contract will depend on the corresponding works contract, more
detailed information will be available when the contract notice is
published.
11. Legal basis: ACP-EC Cotonou Agreement, signed on 23.6.2000.
Decision No 2/2002 of the ACP-EC Council of Ministers of 7.10.2002
regarding the implementation of Articles 28, 29 and 30 of Annex IV to the
Cotonou Agreement and its Annex.
