SERVICES: The Connexions Services for Young People is presently provided
through a range of contracts and in house provision. There are presently 7
contracts in place and the major contract is for a Careers Advisory
Service for Young People. West Sussex County Council is currently
undertaking a full service review to determine the services required from
the 1.4.2008 and the required procurement strategy to obtain these
services. Education services. Technical and vocational secondary education
services. Youth education services.
Estimated cost excluding VAT: 4 000 000 GBP.

SECTION VI: COMPLEMENTARY INFORMATION
VI.1) CONTRACT RELATED TO A PROJECT AND/OR PROGRAMME FINANCED BY
COMMUNITY FUNDS: No.
VI.2) ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: This notice is being submitted in order to
invite expressions of interest from organisations to participate in a
market consultation exercise.
West Sussex County Council would like to take this opportunity to talk to
interested organisations with regard to these arrangements as part of the
market consultation exercise. Interested organisations should indicate
whether they are interested in the delivery of the service(s) outlined.
Organisations will then be selected by West Sussex County Council based on
their experience, knowledge and expertise of providing the services
outlined to other local authorities. The market consultation will take
place on the morning of Monday 18th and the afternoon of Tuesday 19.6.2007
in Chichester, West Sussex.
Existing service providers do not need to respond to this request to
attend the market consultation exercise.
Contractors will be expected to deliver services which demonstrate a best
value approach as required by the Government.
Public Liability and Employers Liability insurance of 10 000 000 GBP will
be required and Professional Indemnity Insurance may be required
appropriate to the contract.
West Sussex County Council is a public authority within the meaning of the
Freedom of Information Act 2000 and all correspondence received will be
dealt with in accordance with the Act.
'The Authority will enter into the contract for itself and on behalf of
other public bodies, which are 'Permitted Bodies' within the meaning of
the Local Government (Goods and Services) Act 1970 and which, as at the
date of the contract, belong to or are entitled to join (any of the South
East Centre of Excellence, the South West Centre of Excellence or the
Central Buying Consortium 'the Relevant Permitted Bodies') and any such
Relevant Permitted Body shall be entitled, with the prior written consent
of the Authority, to access the contract on the same or substantially the
same terms and conditions as agreed with the Authority'.
A contract notice relating to the supply of the Connexions Service for
Young People in West Sussex will be submitted for publication in July
2007, all service providers should respond to this published contract
notice, even if they have been invited to attend the market consultation.
