implementing their food security programmes.
Additionally to running the Commission's technical assistance office in
Pyongyang, this includes assisting the EC in the implementation of its
supply contracts, i.e. establishing the distribution list of the equipment
to the end beneficiaries; monitoring the delivery of agricultural
equipment and its impact on the agricultural production; following up the
training of the end beneficiaries, and the maintenance and repair of the
equipment; ensuring the coordination between all institutions and groups
involved in the projects; liaising with the other players in the food
security field in the DPRK; providing overviews of other donors'
activities in the country; and eventually preparing a follow-up food
security programme.
8. Indicative maximum budget: EUR 500 000.
9. Intended timing of publication of the procurement notice: May 2006.
10. Additional information: The award of the contract is subject to the
signature of the financing agreement between the European Commission and
the Democratic People's Republic of Korea.
11. Legal basis: Council Regulation (EC) No 1292/96 of 27.6.1996 on
food-aid policy and food-aid management and special operations in support
of food security, as amended by Council Regulation (EC) No 2110/2005 of
14.12.2005 on access to Community external assistance.
