This request for expressions of interest follows the general procurement notice for this project that appeared in Development Business vol. 27 No. 642 of November 16, 2004, and online in dgMarket.

The Republic of Iraq has received financing from the World Bank toward the cost of the Emergency Water Supply, Sanitation and Urban Reconstruction Project and intends to apply part of the proceeds for consultant services. The services include:

1. Detailed design and preparation of tender documents for water network using Ductile Iron pipes of a total length of 71 Kilometers of different sizes in west of Masik and Malta Nasara (3) Quarters, Dohuk City, Dohuk Governorate, Kurdistan Region,
2. Design and preparation of tender documents for water network using Ductile Iron pipes of a total length of 58 Kilometers of different sizes in west of Dohuk city; and
3. Provision of construction supervision after contract award.

The expected implementation period for the above consultancy services are six months for the design phase and twelve months for the construction phase.

The Ministry of Municipalities and Public Works now invites eligible consulting firms to indicate their interest in providing the services. Interested consulting firms must provide information indicating that they are qualified to perform the services (brochures, description of similar assignments, experience in similar conditions, availability of appropriate skills among staff, etc.). Consulting firms may associate to enhance their qualifications.

A consulting firm will be selected in accordance with the procedures set out in the World Bank’s Guidelines: Selection and Employment of Consultants by World Bank Borrowers of May 2004.

Interested consulting firms may obtain further information at the address below during office hours 0900 to 1400 hours local time.

Expressions of interest must be delivered to the address below by October 17, 2005.
