Expressions of Interest

The Republic of Armenia has received a credit from the International Development Association (IDA) toward the cost of the Education Quality and Relevance Project and intends to apply part of the proceeds of this credit for providing training to about 7500-8000 secondary school teachers in Computer Literacy.

The Consultant will be responsible for:

1. Developing teachers’ training plan and course program.
2. Developing a monitoring and evaluation plan.
3. Conducting training workshops for teachers.
4. Evaluating outcomes/impact of the training.

The detailed tasks to be accomplished by the Firm are given below:
1. To prepare a training plan that will present the locations/sites of training workshops, the number of fixed or mobile computer laboratories with their respective equipment quantities per training site, and proposed training schedule.
2. To work out and get approved by MoES the course program and package of training materials for computer literacy with the time line of 30 hours under the following minimum requirements:
• Operation systems (Windows XP)
• Microsoft Office XP:
o Word processing (Microsoft Word 2000)
o Use of spreadsheets (Microsoft Excel 2000)
o Power Point presentations
• Internet browsing (Internet Explorer 6)
3. To pre-test teachers for assessing their initial knowledge.
4. To work out the comprehensive training completion test and evaluation form for collecting feedback from teachers on the quality of the services during the training workshop/session.
5. To work out a monitoring and evaluation plan for assessing the overall impact of the training.
6. To arrange for and furbish with equipment (modern computers in a good physical condition) as necessary training locations in different regions of the Republic of Armenia.
7. To conduct teachers training according to the training plan.

The Consulting firm should offer qualified consulting personnel for conducting ICT trainings.

The Ministry of Education and Science of Armenia and Centre for Education Projects now invite eligible consultants to indicate their interest in providing the services. Interested consultants must provide information indicating that they are qualified to perform the services (prepare a training plan, work out course program and package of training materials, pre-test teachers, work out a plan and conduct monitoring and evaluation, conduct teachers training according to the training plan etc.).

A consultant will be selected in accordance with the procedures set out in the World Bank’s Guidelines: Selection and Employment of Consultants by World Bank Borrowers, January 1997 (revised September 1997, January 1999 and May 2002).

Expressions of interest must be delivered to the address below by August 19, 2005.
