REPUBLIC OF KENYA

NAIROBI WATER AND SEWERAGE INSTITUTIONAL RESTRUCTURING PROJECT:
GRANT NO.H100-KE

Contract no. NWSC/13/2004: Supply, Installation and Configuration of Computer Hardware and Networks.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE SYSTEM : Computer Hardware and Networks.

1. This invitation for bids follows the general procurement notice for this project that appeared in Development Business, issue No. 623 of 31st January 2004.

2. The Government of Kenya has received a Grant from the International Development Association towards the cost of Nairobi Water and Sewerage Institutional Restructuring Project (NWSIRP), and it intends to apply part of the proceeds of this Grant to cover payments under contract no. NWSC/13/2005: Supply, Installation and Configuration of Computer Hardware and Networks.

3. The Nairobi City Water and Sewerage Company, now invites sealed bids from eligible bidders for the Supply, Installation and Configuration of Computer Hardware and Networks in lots as follows:

Lot 1: Servers and Accessories; Quantity - Five (5)
Lot 2: Computers and Accessories; Quantity – Twenty (20)
Lot 3: Printers and Accessories; Quantity – Fourty Five (45)
Lot 4: Uninterrupted Power Supply Units; Quantity – Fourty (40)
Lot 5: New Local Area Networks in Eastleigh (1), Karen (1), Nairobi Dam
(1), Kariobangi (1) and Gatundu (1).
Lot 6: Wide Area Network Services
Lot 7: Messaging And Collaboration Software
Lot 8: Air Conditioning Equipment ; Quantity – Two (2)


Bidders have the option to bid for any one or all Lots. Bids will be evaluated and contract(s) awarded for each lot taking into account discounts offered if any, for combined Lots in determining the lowest evaluated cost of all lots which will be the basis for award of the contracts(s). However, bids not offering all the items in a lot will be treated as incomplete.


4. Bidding will be conducted using the International Competitive Bidding (ICB) procedures specified in the World Bank’s Guidelines: procurement under IBRD Loans and IDA Credits and is open to all Bidders from eligible source countries as defined in the Guidelines dated January 1995 (revised January and August 1996, September 1997 and January 1999) and is open to all bidders from eligible source countries as defined in the Guidelines.


5. Interested eligible Bidders may obtain further information and inspect the bidding documents at the Nairobi Water and Sewerage Company, Industrial Area, Kampala Road (Address Below) from 08:00 – 17:00 hours local time on Mondays to Fridays except during lunch time from 13:00 to 14:00 hours and public holidays.

6. A complete set of bidding documents in English language may be purchased by interested bidders upon payment of a nonrefundable fee Kes.5,000/- (Five Thousand Kenya Shillings). The method of payment will be cash or banker’s Cheque payable to the Nairobi City Water and Sewerage Company.


7. Bids must be deposited in the locked tender box located at the Board Room on first floor at the address given below at or before the 26th August 2005 and shall be valid for 90 days after bid submission deadline. Late bids will be rejected. All bids must be accompanied by a bid security of 1% of the tender sum for the selected lot(s) from a reputable Bank.


For more than one Lot, the bid security shall be sum of the bid securities
of the separate Lots.






8. Bids will be opened in the presence of the bidders’ representatives who choose to attend at 12:00 Noon on the 26th August 2005 at the office of:
