Invitation for Prequalification of Contractors Amman Development Corridor Project - Contract 3 Central Tender (51/2004) The Ministry of Public Works and Housing in Jordan (MPW&H), through The Government Tenders Directorate (GTD) is in the process of soliciting tenders from international construction contracting firms and/or joint ventures for the purpose of executing Section 3 of the Amman Development Corridor (ADC) highway project, 100% of which cost will be financed by the European Investment Bank as part of a loan agreement with the Government of Jordan. The ADC highway consists of 40 km 2-lane dual carriageway road starting from the Amman - Queen Alia International Airport road (Desert Highway) at an interchange to be located near Alisra University, some 20 km south of Amman, and ending in the Zarqa area. The project is divided in to three contracts. This contract 3, which length is 8 km, comprises the Zarqa Eastern Bypass and Zarqa Through Link as briefly described below: Zarqa Eastern Bypass The alignment of Zarqa Eastern Bypass commences at the southern end of Zarqa Eastern Bypass Interchange and extends 4.3 km to join Zarqa Highway. The alignment along this section enters hilly terrain requiring some localized cut and fill sections of 20 m and 10 m respectively. Zarqa Through Link The alignment of Zarqa Through Link extends from the north to the Yajouz road, a distance of 3,70 km. The Zarqa river is overpassed by viaduct to avoid hitting a development area by high embankment. The works include, but are not limited to the execution of the following: 1. Construction of dual carriageway with 2 x 3,65 m travel lanes in each direction plus 3,0 m shoulders and a central median of 4,5 m width with new jerseys barriers. The total roadway width is 26,10 m with minimum right of way of 80 m. 2. Construction of a full cloverleaf interchange at Zarqa Highway road. 3. Construction of the Zarqa Bypass Directional Interchange. 4. Construction of the Yajouz Ramps Intersection. 5. Construction of Four (4) post-tensioned slabs overpasses: - 1 span, total length 36,3 m, overall width 10 m. - 2 spans, total length 71 m, overall width 34 m. - 3 spans, total length 71,5 m, overall width 10 m. - 3 spans, total length 71,5 m, overall width 10 m. 6. Construction of one viaduct composed of viaduct consist of 8 spans of post-tensioned beams (33 m each span) and a reinforced deck slab, and a span of steel beams (~ 50 m), total length 314 m, overall width 28 m. 7. Construction of one (1) reinforced concrete underpass 200 m in length (approximately) and 13 m in width, and box culverts. 8. Installation of traffic control devices. 9. Street lighting installations and related civil works for the interchanges (cabling, earthing, lighting installations, outdoor package substations, high mast concrete base, ducting and handholes). 10. Street lighting civil works for the mainline (columns concrete base, ducting and handholes). 11. Telecommunication civil works (duct along one side of the mainline, draw pits and crossings). 12. Traffic signing, traffic marking, traffic signal system. 13. Traffic safety installations and slope protection treatments. 14. Drainage works, including culverts, dykes, slope protection and ditches. Interested construction contracting firms and/or joint ventures will have first to pass set prequalification criteria before they can tender for the subject project. Potential applicants may download the prequalification document from the Government Tenders Directorate (GTD) official website, www.gtd.gov.jo. Interested applicants should inform (GTD) about the receipt of the invitation of prequalification and whether or not they will submit a prequalification document at GTD address gtd@gtd.gov.jo. Fax +96265857583, +96265857639. Inquires related to the prequalification document should be sent to GTD via fax or e-mail before May 20th, 2004. Applicants are requested to follow up the issuance of any addenda to prequalification document or answer to inquires through GTD official website mentioned above. For prequalification, an interested firm will have to fill out the attached prequalification form, and submit it, together with the required supporting documents, all in 1 original and 2 copies, in a sealed envelope, at the following address, no later than 12:00 pm on June 20th 2004: Ministry of Public Works and Housing, Government Tenders Directorate, 8th Circle, JO-Amman, Jordan. In the case of a joint venture, each member thereof will have to fill in a separate prequalification form, but both members of the joint venture will have to submit the two forms and supporting documents (1 original and 2 copies) in one single envelope bearing the name of the joint venture. The submitted prequalification application will be publicly opened at 14:00 hours Jordan's local time on 20th June 2004, in the presence of applicants or their representatives who choose to attend and it will be transmitted live (audio & video) on GTD official website mentioned above.
