Re awarding of contracts to training providers - following a
comprehensive tendering process the SKILL Project Steering Group has made
a decision in relation to the awarding of contracts to training
providers. In this regard the agreement and approval of the Health
Service Executive Board was given on 1st December 2005 to award the
contract to a consortium of the Vocational Education Committees (VEC) led
by the City of Dublin VEC. The Open Training College will be providing
the specialist modules for the intellectual disabilities sector and
diagnostic imaging in University College Dublin has been appointed to
deliver specialist modules for health care assistants working in
Radiography Departments. The contracts are for a period of three years
initially with an option for the commissioners to extend them for a
further year. All contract arrangements are conditional on a successful
independent evaluation of the initial programmes in early 2006 and the
subsequent satisfactory roll-out of the programmes in the system between
now and 2008.
